Bahar Bektaş is a filmmaker and social worker. After a one-year guest study at HFF Munich, she completed screenwriting and dramaturgy training at the Munich Film Academy and the Masterschool Drehbuch Berlin. From 2017 to 2023, she pursued a master’s degree in Screenwriting and Dramaturgy at the Film University Konrad Wolf Babelsberg. Her practical master’s thesis Liebe quält Seele aka EVIN won the Jury Prize for "Best Screenplay" at the FILMZ Festival in Mainz (2019) and the ZONTA Prize for Young Filmmakers (2020). With Exile Never Ends, she debuted as a documentary filmmaker, winning the Film Critics' Award for Best Documentary at the Max Ophüls Prize 2024 and the FFF Förderpreis Documentary Film at DOK.fest Munich 2024. In October 2024, she won the Hessian Film Award for the film.
