Elwira Niewiera

ELWIRA NIEWIERA is a Berlin-based, Polish award-winning director of the well-known documentary films THE HAMLET SYNDROME (2022), THE PRINCE AND THE DYBBUK (2017), and THE DOMINO EFFECT (2014). The movies were shown worldwide at over 50 festivals and has received numerous awards, including the Lion for the Best Documentary on Cinema at Venice FF, Grand Prix-Semaine de la Critique for the Best Film Locarno FF, the Polish Film Academy Award for Best Documentary, Golden Dove at DOK Leipzig, the Jury Award for Best Documentary at the Hong Kong International Film Festival, and the Chicken & Egg Award 2021. In her artistic work, she primarily explores political, social and cultural transformations in Eastern Europe and the war in Ukraine.
