Arya Amber Lalloo

Arya Amber Lalloo is a South African multi- disciplinary filmmaker based in Johannesburg. Conceptually, artistically and politically driven, she has worked alongside internationally respected film professionals since 2006 to reach wide audiences at home and abroad. She is interested in majority world feminisms, decolonisation and “third spaces” and sees her practice as a space of imagination, resistance, rebellion, collaboration and experimentation. She has played key creative roles on projects that have screened at major international festivals such as Cannes, Sundance and IDFA. She is currently developing a creative non-fiction essay titled A Girl and a Gun with the support of the IDFA Bertha Fund in development and her first narrative fiction feature Paradisus. She lives and works in Johannesburg.
