On a quest for her Palestinian identity, the director Areeb Zuaiter comes across the parkour runner Ahmed Matar in 2015. He and his friends film themselves as they practise parkour in Gaza Strip. Ahmed’s lightheartedness reminds Areeb of a happy time in Gaza. Nostalgia collides with the dream of living in freedom abroad. Barbara Off
Biography
Areeb Zuaiter is a multi-national filmmaker based in Washington, D.C. YALLA PARKOUR is her first feature-length documentary, which won the International Jury Prize at DOC NYC 2024. Since 2021, she has headed the programming department of the Amman International Film Festival.
